Hello: My mom and myself did a DNA test and found out that we both have 2 allels that have Sephadic Jewish markers on them. My mom highest ranking European markers were from Portugal and Brazil, although we are african american. Does this mean that we are Sephardi Jews? Thank you.
- Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my question. Anyways, I'm Jewish, I was raised going to Ashkenazi synagogues, (though occasionally my mother would take me and my brothers to a Sephardi synagogue for the high holidays) and my bat mitzvah was at a conservative synagogue. My brothers and I have recently been researching our genealogy, and in doing this, we found out 3/4 of our ancestry is Sephardic. After some more research, my family (my parents included) decided we want to start practicing Sephardic Judaism. One of my local synagogues has a Sephardic minyan and recently we have been going to that for services. (The minyan is open to everyone). As I've experienced and learned more about Sephardic Judaism I've found I really resigned with it, on top of learning about my Sephardi ancestry. Long story short, I was wondering if there was a conversion process to go through to become Sephardi, and if so, what would that include. Thank you again and chag Pesach sameach :)

- Hello Rabbi, I had a question regarding using a stove top for both meat and dairy products. Specifically, if food pots placed on top of the stove spill solid or liquid food onto the burners and metal grates, in areas both near and far from the flames, what is the status of the stove top? While i recognize that some food that falls within these areas would be burned up by the flames, I may recall seeing pieces of food which remained recognizable after falling in these places. Under these circumstances, would the food pieces grow hot enough to be absorbed into the stovetop and thus invalidate the oven? If you could offer any guidance in the matter, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
- Can a Sepharadic Jew keep his minhagim as far as lets say going by Yalkut Yosef and still adopt Rabbi Nachmans teachings as much as he wants and live by them. Is that halachically a problem or as long as someone keeps their halachot its okay to be a chasid. What would Rav Ovadia say about this. I dont see any problem with this but I want to confirm this question. Second question is, for a baal teshuva the halacha is more lenient because the person could chose whatever he wants. Either case what would our Chachamim say about this. Thanks
